Membership/Subscription

For members, The Journal is part of the membership fee of $65 per year for U.S. residents, or $85 for all foreign countries which includes first class mailing of the Journal.  Non members (U.S.) may subscribe to The Journal for $30 per year.

Editorial Submissions

If you have a registered Shetland, Miniature Horse or Show Pony, you probably have a story to share . . . and we would love to have you share it with us.  Please call or send us your stories with photos (the more photos the better) for possible inclusion in a future issue of the magazine. Stories should be entertaining, educational, informational, etc but we request they not be “promotional”.

Obituaries may be submitted for publication on members only. We ask that obituaries be submitted within 30 days of death. Obituaries will be included as space allows.

Deadline for editorial submission is the 1^st of the month preceding the month of publication; ie, January 1 for Feb/Mar issue, March 1 for April/May issue, May 1 for June/July issue, July 1 for Aug/Sept issue, Sept 1 for Oct/Nov issue.  Late editorial may run in the following issue as space allows.

Editorial Photos Wanted

We are always looking for great photos of Shetlands, Show Ponies and Miniatures to use as part of our editorial. These photos should NOT be “Win Shots” or “Center Ring” shots, but your horses in their natural setting doing what they do best . . . being a horse. They can be photos depicting seasons of the year . . . your horses in the snow, or in spring grazing lush green pastures, next to water, etc.  They can depict your horses transitioning from hairy mammoth to beautiful, elegant horse, clipping, training at home, the horses grazing, running, foaling, or even jumping for joy.  Digital photos should be high resolution 300 dpi at 5” x 7” or larger. We accept snapshots as long as they are clean, sharp photos. We will scan them and return the photos to you, provided you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Please send all editorial photos (digital and snapshots) to Betty Teall at the address below.  There is no monetary compensation but you may see your horse as part of an editorial in an upcoming issue of The Journal.

Great News – Advertising deadlines have moved out one month to better accommodate our advertisers. See our new ad deadlines below.

We accept camera ready ads as well as non-camera ready ads which we will design for you. If we design an ad for you, you will be sent a pdf proof at no charge for final changes and approval.  Due to time limitations, hard copy proofs will not be available for final ad design.  Ad materials must be high resolution digital files or clean, sharp photo prints.  Non Camera ready ads should include the photos you want on the ad, farm (or corporate) logo, the copy to be placed on the ad plus instructions on specifics you wish to see in your ad.
