People Hall of Fame

The People Hall of Fame award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to American Shetland Pony Club, Inc., in some fashion during their association with the organization. Hall of Fame candidates are nominated from one of three categories: Historical Era (1888 to 1940); Intermediate Era (1941 to 1990); or Current Era (1991 to Current).

Recommendations for potential inductees may be made each year to the American Shetland Pony Club, Inc., home office. Nominations are encouraged to be in writing and should include documentation for the nomination including a biography for the nominee. All members, past and present, including the Board of Directors, are eligible for nomination and induction into the People Hall of Fame. Nominations must be made by February 1st of each calendar year.

There will be one candidate elected in each category each year unless there is a tie, in which case two from the category containing the tie will be named. In the instance of either unqualified nominees or no nominees in any or all categories in any given year, no awards may be made in those categories affected.

Biographies will be read and awards presented at the annual National Convention. An announcement will be made in the official publication, the Journal, as well. Biographies will be printed in the official publication only as space permits, preferably in the designated Hall of Fame issue.
